Day 23: Sunset

On a clear day I can see the Olympic Mountains from my front yard. On this day a few weeks ago there were some fires in the mountains so the sunset had a lovely, orange, hazy appearance.

Day 22: Trees

This photo was not altered in any way. The skies really are that grey this morning.

Day 19: Where I Slept

When Pete is gone I let Chloe sleep in the bed with me. I like having her close and not having to worry about her in another part of the house. I love her morning snuggles, and her little snores, and the way she kicks all of her covers off even when it's chilly.

Day 18: In Bag

I had every intention of trying a Piyo Fusion class at the Y after my appointment. Instead, I'm home in sweatpants reading a book and feeling kind of blah. I think I need to slow down a bit.

Day 16: What I Ate

My favorite lunch: Caprese salad. The ingredients on their own are just okay, but mix them together and things start to get magical.

And no, I don't always make it look this pretty. I usually chop everything into bite size pieces.

Day 14: Flowers

Hydrangeas from my yard. One of my favorite flowers. I love that this one bush had blue, green and lavender blooming.

More roses.

All picked and arranged for today's party.

Day 13: From a Distance

Letters from the ocean. When Pete is on the sub they have port stops and usually a rider will get on for a few days, do an inspection, and then leave. When that rider leaves they will often bring any mail from the sailors and deliver it when they get home. I don't remember Pete ever writing before. This time he's been really great about it. Sure, we can email all we want, but there is something special about opening the mailbox and seeing an actual letter.

Day 12: Close-up

I actually took this shot the other day because it was the last of my roses and I wanted to take a photo of all the flowers before the gloom set in. The gloom has officially set. Yuck.

Day 11: Something Fun

Nightly Mario Kart with my girl. Sometimes I even let her win. Sometimes.

Day 9: Faceless Self Portrait

I love that I didn't even enhance these colors. Things really are that vibrant here.

Day 8: Technology

A few months ago my sister gave Chloe her old iPhone. Nice, right? Now Chloe can play all the games and music she wants without stealing our phones. Score.

Day 7: Something New

New Growth.

Whoever landscaped this yard did an amazing job. I always have new flowers blooming and it is green everywhere I look. I love it. I didn't think the grapevines were ever going to start producing fruit but two weeks ago I saw some itty bitty grapes make their debut. Think I can make my own wine?

Day 6: Childhood Memory

I was struggling with this post today. I didn't have any great ideas until Chloe opened up her package from Pete and wanted to try the cheese popcorn as she's never had it before. It was one of my favorite childhood snacks. She loved it too.

Day 5: Someone I Love

My sweet Chloe. My someone I love the most.

She's kind, compassionate, smart, funny, patient, and so much more, and man, that girl loves with her whole heart. She will always be my someone...my someone that I love the most.

Day 3: Clouds

I haven't seen a cloud in weeks. My mornings look like this.

Day 2: What I wore

This is a bad day for "what I wore" as I'm usually pretty put together. Instead, my morning consisted of a workout, mowing the yard, weed-whacking, and putting poison into mole holes.
This is my "I am woman and I can do anything" pose. I look fierce, right?

Pants: Nike Dri-Fit, Sports Authority. Tank: Champion, Target. Very fashion forward.
